Bio:
Justin Anders, 2016, Associate Professor (tenured) and Chair of the Division of Music,
ABD in Music Education -Boston University, MA with an emphasis in Choral Conducting-University
of Arkansas at Little Rock, BME with an instrumental and professional education concentration-University
of Arkansas at Monticello, BA with a piano concentration-University of Arkansas at
Monticello.
While in Little Rock Mr. Anders was the assistant conductor of masterworks such as
Mendelssohn's Elijah and Mozart's Requiem. He conducted and served as music director
of the musical Annie and the opera Four Saints in Three Acts, both performed with
members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. He also was assistant conductor to other
works such as the operetta H.M.S. Pinafore.
Prior to coming to the University of Arkansas at Monticello, Mr. Anders held a position
with the Harrison School District as junior high director of bands, jazz studies coordinator,
and woodwind specialist. Mr. Anders consistently received superior ratings with his
concert bands and jazz bands. Under the direction of Mr. Anders, the Harrison High
School Jazz Ensemble traveled to many competitions in Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas,
placing first at eight separate competitions in five years. In 2013, Mr. Anders led
the Harrison Symphonic Band to a first division rating at region competition, the
first in the program's history.
