UAM Students Serve as Judges in Regional FBLA Competition
On February 5, seven University of Arkansas at Monticello students served as judges for the Arkansas Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) academic competition for Mid-Level District III, held on UAM’s Monticello campus. Approximately 250 students from 10 junior high schools in southeast Arkansas participated in the event.
The UAM student judges were T-Ausha Avery, a business major; Joel Jameson, a business administration major; Sabin Koirala, a computer information systems major; Aidan Manley, an accounting major; Michelle Nickolson, an accounting major; Victoria O'Neill, a business administration major; and Amrit Poudel, a computer information systems major.
The university students worked alongside industry professionals to form the judging panels, interviewing, reviewing and ranking student presentations based on a scoring rubric. The competitions judged by UAM students included website design, job interviews, public speaking, FBLA mission, career research, business graphics, business reports and spreadsheet design.
Dr. Shanna Knowles, assistant professor of management and faculty sponsor of the FBLA Collegiate Club at UAM, stated, “These UAM students were happy to volunteer their time to help mold the next generation of business leaders. They realize that giving back to our community is important.”
