Christine Hicks, a junior at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, recently earned eighth place in the Business Law competition at the Collegiate Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference.

The conference was held in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 22 through June 25, 2023. Participants from across the United States attended the conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks and participate in business-related competitive events.

Hicks, from Crossett, Arkansas, is majoring in business administration with an emphasis in finance at UAM. She qualified for the national competition after placing first in the Business Law and Help Desk Prompt competitions at the Arkansas state championship during the Phi Beta Lambda-Collegiate Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference that was held in Little Rock, Arkansas, on March 31 through April 1, 2023.

Dr. Marsha Clayton, dean of the School of Business at UAM, stated, “Ms. Hicks is a credit to UAM, the School of Business and Phi Beta Lambda. Her accomplishment at the national conference is a testament to her commitment to her studies and the dedication of the PBL sponsors.”

“I am extremely happy I could bring home a title to our FBLA collegiate chapter. I hope this encourages future members to not only compete at state but to go even further to nationals,” Hicks said.
