UAM Students Win Statewide Academic Awards at FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda Conference

Five University of Arkansas at Monticello School of Business students won academic awards in a statewide FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda competition. The competition was held during the 2022 Arkansas FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference from March 31 through April 2 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

All five UAM students who competed won awards in their respective events. The students are all majoring in business administration or accounting at UAM.

David Hunter Selvey, a junior from Watson majoring in business administration with an emphasis in general business, placed first in Arkansas Phi Beta Lambda Logo Development and second in Project Management.

Hannah Taylor-Gresham, a senior from Rison majoring in business administration with an emphasis in marketing, placed first in Marketing Concepts and placed second in Administrative Technology.

Caroline Tedder, a senior from Forney, Texas, majoring in business administration with an emphasis in management and an emphasis in marketing, placed first in Sports Management and Marketing and placed first in Contemporary Sports Issues.

Hope Wells, a sophomore from Rison majoring in accounting, placed first in Computer Applications.

Anna Wynn, a senior from Star City majoring in accounting and business administration with an emphasis in management, placed first in Spreadsheet Applications.

Dr. Marsha Clayton, dean of the UAM School of Business, offered congratulations to the students for their success, stating, “The School of Business is proud of our PBL students and their accomplishment. One hundred percent of the UAM students competing this year placed first in an event, with some placing first or second in another event. This is the second consecutive year the UAM PBL chapter has competed and placed in the statewide academic awards conference. We appreciate the efforts and dedication of the PBL members and their faculty sponsors.”

At the state leadership conference, students compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Top state winners are eligible to compete for national awards at the 2022 FBLA-Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference held in Chicago, Illinois, from June 24 through June 27.
