Program Description
The Certificate of Proficiency in HVAC/R will serve the needs and goals of entry-level workers who will be able to serve as HVAC/R helpers including public and private maintenance departments. The technical certificate will provide competencies to individuals hired in beginning levels of HVAC/R technician positions as well as those seeking to enhance their credentials and abilities in a progression toward further certifications in HVAC/R.
The length of this program is two (2) semesters and one (1) summer term. The program costs are approximately $4,440 for tuition and fees and approximately $1,300 for books and supplies.

Successful completers of this program will be able to:
- Demonstrate skills and knowledge to diagnose and repair current ventilation, heating,
air-conditioning,
and refrigeration systems. - Perform preventive maintenance with high-quality workmanship.
- Complete accurate work orders of HVAC/R equipment repairs related to service history,
diagnosis/analysis of problems, and description of correct repairs. - Correctly complete documentation of appropriate disposal of an appliance that contains
refrigerant
chemicals. - Successfully obtain at least one EPA certification.
