UAM-CTC Holds 2023 Commencement Exercises
On June 29, the University of Arkansas at Monticello College of Technology-Crossett (UAM-CTC) held its commencement exercises at the Crossett High School Arena.
Over 100 graduates were recognized with technical certificates in Early Childhood Education; Electromechanical Technology; Electromechanical-Instrumentation; Health Information Technology; Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology; Hospitality Services; Practical Nursing; and Welding Technology, as well as Associate of Applied Science degrees in General Technology; Industrial Technology; and Hospitality and Tourism.
Students were also recognized for their membership in the National Technical Honor Society and received National Readiness Certificates. Diplomas were presented to completers of the Adult Education program who earned their GEDs.
UAM-CTC recognized its Outstanding Alumnus for 2023, Mr. Charles E. Rice, Jr. Rice graduated from UAM-CTC in 1992 from the Electromechanical Technology-Instrumentation program. He is the area manager of Boardwalk Pipelines. Rice offered encouraging words to the graduates, telling them to “go use that momentum, perseverance and endurance to do great things.”
During the ceremony, Linda Rushing, who dedicated over 47 years of service to the college, made her last appearance as vice chancellor of UAM-CTC before her retirement. Dr. Peggy Doss, chancellor of UAM, Yancey Kyle, field representative for Rep. Bruce Westerman, Randy Risher, CEO of Risher Companies and a Crossett High School graduate and a 1989 graduate of UAM, and Dawn Reed, assistant vice chancellor of UAM-CTC, presented gifts to Rushing.
