Institutional Biosafety Committee Meeting Minutes (IBC)

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) provides oversight for research and teaching activities involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acids and other potentially biohazardous materials used at UAM. The IBC ensures that all work complies with the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules, along with applicable federal, state, and institutional biosafety requirements.

The committee reviews proposed research, evaluates potential risks, and recommends appropriate safety practices to protect researchers, the campus community, and the environment. As required by the NIH, the IBC includes members of the local community to support transparency and ensure that public perspectives are represented. Meeting minutes are made publicly available here in accordance with NIH policy.
