Vanessa Wheeler’s Senior Art Exhibition at Glassblock Gallery
Vanessa Wheeler’s senior art thesis exhibition, The Texture of Feeling, will be held from April 14 through April 27 in the Glassblock Gallery in the Fred J. Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Her public reception will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Wheeler’s exhibition focuses on paintings of public figures from the past and present that had or have different mental illnesses. The paintings use color expressively to relate to the individual’s specific affliction. In a description of the exhibition, Wheeler stated, “In an effort to display the role that both of my majors, Art and Psychology, have had on my development, I’ve chosen to represent the illness of recognizable individuals with specific symbolic color, contrast, and texture.”
The exhibition will be open to the public from April 14 through April 27. The gallery’s hours are Mondays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
